Teresa is a physician assistant: a master's-level clinician licensed to practise medicine, diagnose and prescribe under her own license. She started Telehealth Wellness Hawaii to give people across the islands a simpler way to get clinician-guided weight management, with visits by video or phone that fit around work, family and the ferry schedule.
She went into medicine because of her own family. Her parents spoke Spanish, and like many people facing a language barrier they put off going to the doctor. Getting a diagnosis is hard enough in English; in a second language it is harder still. Teresa decided to become the provider her community could actually reach, and that is still the point of this practice: care that is easy to get to, culturally inclusive, and explained in plain language, in English or Spanish.
Mālama means to care for, to protect, to look after. That is the standard for every visit: honest answers, no judgement, and a plan built around how you actually live. Away from the clinic you will find her outdoors, in the mountains or the ocean, which is also where a lot of her advice about movement comes from.

One plan, three kinds of support.
Clinician
Decides whether a medicine is right for you, prescribes, orders labs and adjusts your dose. Your clinician is always the one who makes medical decisions.
Coach
Your everyday partner for meals, movement, sleep and motivation. Coaches don't prescribe, and they loop in your clinician when something needs medical attention.
Care team
Handles scheduling, pharmacy coordination and questions about your plan, so you always know who to ask.
